Over the years we’ve received plenty of feedback from our growing number of readers that is complimentary of our attempts to look past the emotive language sometimes used about what’s happening in the National Electricity Market to try to understand what’s actually been happening (on a factual, objective basis).
We don’t always get it right (thanks to those who point it out), but we never stop striving with that as our goal.
We’ve found that this has been particularly necessary:
1) with respect to the energy transition; and
2) at times of market stress (such as high prices, but particularly during times of real scarcity of supply).
The 2022 Energy Crisis featured, and continues to feature, both of those elements at the same time.

For that reason we thought it useful to flag to our readers that the Australian Energy Council has followed on from AEMO’s report into the market suspension to write its own article ‘AEMO Market Suspension Report – Anatomy of a Crisis’:
For those also seeking to objectively understand what’s been happening through 2022, and particularly in June with APC and Market Suspension, this is another good addition that’s worth a read.
