Storms in Victoria on leave ~500,000 without power

A short back-dated article to note about the storm of Thursday 28th and Friday 29th October that left almost 500,000 people without power in Victoria:

To gain another sense of the intensity of the storm, Ben Domensino at Weatherzone tweeted about over 500,000 lightning strikes across southeastern Australia (Victoria, but also South Australia, Tasmania and parts of NSW) in the 24 hour period to 09:57 NEM time on Friday:
