AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE
Actual Minimum System Load MSL2 condition in the SA Region on 07/12/2025

Update to Market Notice 131444 – AEMO has detected that there is an elevated risk of insufficient demand to maintain a secure operating state in the SA on 07/12/2025.

Minimum demand is forecast to be -157 MW at 1300 hrs, and the advisory threshold is:
– MSL1 132 MW
– MSL2 -19 MW
– MSL3 -370 MW

The demand is below the MSL2  threshold. The actual MSL2  condition is forecast to exist until 1530 hrs.

Forecast demand refers to forecast Operational Demand that excludes contribution from Significant Non-Scheduled Generation: see definitions at https://aemo.com.au/energy-systems/electricity/national-electricity-market-nem/data-nem/operational-demand-data .

END OF REPORT

Initially I thought this might have been the first time that ‘Actual MSL2‘ had been declared for South Australia, but since found this earlier reference to Actual MSL2 on 11th November 2025.

Here’s a snapshot of NEMwatch at 14:00 to show general conditions in South Australia:

Remember that NEMwatch shows ‘Market Demand’ (which is well below 0MW in South Australia), rather than the ‘Operational Demand’ measure that is used for calculating Minimum System Load measures.
