It’s Wednesday 27th May 2026 and this is a short note to record that both units at the much-delayed Hunter GT (a.k.a. Kurri Kurri Peaker) have gained a test run in the past couple days.
Paul was one of the founders of Global-Roam in February 2000. He is currently the CEO of the company and the principal author of WattClarity. Writing for WattClarity has become a natural extension of his work in understanding the electricity market, enabling him to lead the team in developing better software for clients.
Before co-founding the company, Paul worked as a Mechanical Engineer for the Queensland Electricity Commission in the early 1990s. He also gained international experience in Japan, the United States, Canada, the UK, and Argentina as part of his ES Cornwall Memorial Scholarship.
One of our keen readers (and ez2view users) has flagged this to us – so we thought we’d post this short note using ez2view to look at delays at the Kurri Kurri peaker (HUNTER GT).
Some ez2view alerts triggered last Friday (3rd July 2026) and last night (6th July 2026) to signal that Hunter GT gained a test run … but Snowy Hydro media says testing on diesel starts this Friday (10th July 2026).
With neither unit at the Hunter (formerly Kurri Kurri) Power Station having produced any output since early March, we provide a quick update about the commissioning/testing phase of the station.
