First price spike of Winter 2011

As shown in the chart from NEM-Review below (showing prices up until this morning), prices have been very subdued across all regions in the NEM to date.

Modest energy consumption would be one of the reasons for this.

At 10:35 this morning, we’ve heard SMS alerts wake from their slumber to announce a price spike in the TAS region – as captured in an automated NEM-Watch snapshot emailed to everyone internally.

Digging a little deeper into the data, we see that the Raise 6 second FCAS price also jumped slightly in response to a small loss of available generation in TAS.

Interestingly, we also note the Market Notice warning of a probable LOR2 situation tomorrow in South Australia.
