We’re endeavoring to release the GSD2024 as soon as possible after Tuesday 28th January 2025.
The GSD2024 will ….
1) follow the earlier versions (GSD2019, GSD2020, GSD2021, GSD2022 and GSD2023) to provide:
(a) a summary of operational data for every single DUID that was operational in the ENERGY or any FCAS market of the NEM for at least part of calendar 2024.
(b) but also (building on the extension made to the GSD2023) include a special focus on Semi-Scheduled units.
2) It’s also worth noting that the GSD2024 will include, for the first time, representations of BDUs (given that the substantial part of the IESS Rule Change took effect in June 2024).
This page, and several linked pages, have been designed to provide information about this digest, and how it fits into what came beforehand.

What is the GSD2024?
Unlike the issues to the GSD2022 (which were 2 x Volume publications of ~800 pages), we significantly increased the size of the statistical digest with the GSD2023.
This has been continued with the GSD2024, which is a ~1350 page document now in a 3-volume format as follows:

Because of the wealth of new data added (as Volume 1) in the GSD2023, the main set of data you’re used to seeing in the earlier issues was shifted across to Volume 2 and Volume 3.
We continued this pattern in the GSD2024. This data is historical performance statistics for units that were operational in the ENERGY market for some time of calendar 2024 – this includes:

A useful reminder is that the GSD2024 (with a focus on calendar 2024):
- provides the third edition covering a full year of operations under Five Minute Settlement
- but it’s also the first year (albeit partially) encompassing the operation of IESS.
Volume 2 and Volume 3 – for units operational in the ENERGY market
Volumes 2 and Volumes 3 are for units operational in the ENERGY market through some part of 2024 – and hence are largely similar to the structure of the GSD2023, GSD2022, GSD2021, GSD2020 and GSD2019, which came beforehand.
For all units that operated (in the ENERGY market – noting that FCAS participation is covered in Volume 1) through some portion of the 2024 calendar year (i.e. for which AEMO published some non-zero InitialMW data) we have included two pages:

The advantage of this format is that it enables data to be reported on the same basis for all units!
What is the GSD2024 Data Extract?
After we released the GSD2020, we received a number of requests from clients who wanted us to collate and release a separate extract of the data contained within the final document :
1) We completed the additional work to make the GSD2020 Data Extract available in March 2021 …
2) … so we did the same for the GSD2021 and GSD2022 and GSD2023;
3) and now have done the same for the GSD2024 (complete with the much larger data set than was initially the case).
The extract is available as an optional extra for those who wish to complete their own analysis of the data that we have calculated and processed.
