Today (Wed 27th March 2024) the AER issues a Media Release about a $900,000 penalty to Pelican Point (owned by Engie) relating to breach of rules on 8th February 2017.
It was an article in the AFR, on the 6th of February 2024, that drew our attention back to generator closures. Engie have announced the early closure of Snuggery and Port Lincoln Power Stations.
Also in the news this week (a Federal Court judgement in relation to AER instituted proceedings against Engie in relation to Pelican Point from 8th Feb 2017) … which is coincidental with upcoming changes in the market for generator obligations.
Took 2-3 times longer than planned (as there were a few different interesting observations that came out) but here is our initial – and perhaps only! – review of what happened in South Australia on Thursday 19th December 2019 (i.e. yesterday).
