Dynamic operations at Tarong Unit 1 in the week to Friday 1st May 2026

A quick article for Friday afternoon 1st May 2026 with two snapshots of ez2view that tell a story of some dynamic operations at Tarong unit 1.

Firstly with the ‘Bids & Offers’ widget, we see four different cycles of the unit over the past week – all for different purposes:

With respect to the number coding, we see:

1)  The unit coming fully offline for a brief period on Tuesday 28th April 2026 for planned AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) testing;

2)  The unit coming down to ‘traditional’  minimum load on Wednesday 29th April 2026 (at ~140MW) for the ‘duck curve’ hours through the day.

3)  The unit coming down to ~15MW as a ‘Trip to House Load’ (TTHL) test process on Thursday 30th April 2026; and

4)  The unit coming down again today for unknown reasons … but noting (from the snapshot below) that this was also planned.

In the ‘Forecast Convergence’ widget focused on the recent addition of visibility in PD/ST PASA data at a unit level, we see all four cycling operations were planned in advance:
