Allan’s used this title for an article previously (here, on 24th Dec 2019) but it’s worth re-use in this situation as shown in this snapshot from NEMwatch for the 18:15 dispatch interval (NEM time) on Monday 13th January 2025:
I don’t have much time this evening, but just want to highlight two things:
1) The Market Notice highlighted, which reads;
‘——————————————————————-

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE
Actual Lack Of Reserve Level 2 (LOR2) in the NSW region – 13/01/2025
An Actual LOR2 condition has been declared under clause 4.8.4(b) of the National Electricity Rules for the NSW region from 1730 hrs.
The Actual LOR2 condition is forecast to exist until 1800 hrs
The capacity reserve required is 714 MW
The minimum reserve available is 560 MW
AEMO is seeking an immediate market response.
An insufficient market response may require AEMO to implement a AEMO intervention event.

END OF REPORT

… so note that the snapshot above (at 18:15) represents a dispatch interval after when the forecast LOR2 condition was forecast to elapse.
2) Note also that the VIC1-NSW1 interconnector is constrained such that it can’t flow in either direction
3) More broadly across the NEMwatch image we can see that everything else (at least at cursory glance) appears ‘pretty ordinary’.
That’s all for now.
PS1 cancellation of ‘Actual LOR2’
Not long after posting this, at 18:15:43 the AEMO issued MN123178 cancelling the alert and downgrading to ‘Actual LOR1’.
