Brief period of spot volatility in QLD and NSW on Tuesday evening 5th December 2023

A brief post this evening with this snapshot from NEMwatch at the 18:35 dispatch interval (NEM time) to record some elevated prices in QLD and NSW, in conjunction with slightly elevated demand levels (out of the ‘green zone’ in relative terms):

With respect to the annotations:

1)  The IRPM of the QLD+NSW ‘Economic Island’ formed due to constraints on VIC1-NSW1* interconnector has dropped below 15%

* … VIC1-NSW1, which Allan wrote about recently  … though the constraints may be different (have not checked)

2)  NSW has been declared as having an Actual LOR1 low reserve condition by the AEMO;

3)  The glitch in the fuel-type history earlier was related to some problems AEMO experienced in the dispatch process (INC0122873)
