The day is not over yet, but we thought you would be interested in the attached snapshot highlighting the first of the occasions on the day when prices jumped to VOLL in SA and VIC as a result of searing temperatures stopping the tennis, and melting VIC and SA into new demand records for each region.

AEMO forecasts NEM-wide demand to exceed 32,000MW tomorrow (Monday 18th December), which is far higher than seen in December 2016, and one reason for the LOR1 low reserve notices.
AEMO has determined that it is necessary to suspend the spot market in all regions under NER clause 3.14.3(s)3) because it has become impossible to operate the spot market in accordance with the provisions of the Rules.
