Many have said that they appreciate our light-hearted competitions – so we conducted another one during July, and drew the winner today. This was linked with people connecting with “WattClarity from Global-Roam” on LinkedIn.
Rather than just drawing a lucky winner out of a hat, or using a random number generator, someone suggested we take a different approach – and here are the results.
Watch the animation to see who won the camera….
Congratulations to [Winner’s Name Here] – we’ll give you a buzz tomorrow to arrange for delivery.
Paul was one of the founders of Global-Roam in February 2000. He is currently the CEO of the company and the principal author of WattClarity. Writing for WattClarity has become a natural extension of his work in understanding the electricity market, enabling him to lead the team in developing better software for clients.
Before co-founding the company, Paul worked as a Mechanical Engineer for the Queensland Electricity Commission in the early 1990s. He also gained international experience in Japan, the United States, Canada, the UK, and Argentina as part of his ES Cornwall Memorial Scholarship.
The recently announced ‘Nelson Review’ has opened the initial consultation process from today. Submissions will be open until the 14th of February 2025.
For reasons explained herein, we’re unable to set aside the time required to run a competition on the “best peak demand forecaster in the NEM” for summer 2017-18.
For those of you who are soldiering through the silly season, keeping the lights on in the NEM, here’s some light-hearted relief (and the chance to prove yourself the best demand forecaster in the NEM).
Some thoughts about why we’ve been seeing an increase in the number of authorised electricity retailers competing in the Australian National Electricity Market, from a new guest author – Connor James

Geez Paul – thought I would watch the video for fun…totally forgetting I had entered the competition, and low and behold my name was drawn out in the “nerdiest” way possible. Long live the Nerds!
By the way – I fly out to Paris in 10 days for a holiday (seriously) and was about to purchase a camera….thanks Paul, you saved me a head ache or two and quite a few dollars there.
Cheers Craig J.
Haha, you guys are such nerds!
Have a good week-end!
Thanks, Reinhard
