Many have said that they appreciate our light-hearted competitions – so we conducted another one during July, and drew the winner today. This was linked with people connecting with “WattClarity from Global-Roam” on LinkedIn.
Rather than just drawing a lucky winner out of a hat, or using a random number generator, someone suggested we take a different approach – and here are the results.
Watch the animation to see who won the camera….
Congratulations to [Winner’s Name Here] – we’ll give you a buzz tomorrow to arrange for delivery.
Paul was one of the founders of Global-Roam in February 2000. He is currently the CEO of the company and the principal author of WattClarity. Writing for WattClarity has become a natural extension of his work in understanding the electricity market, enabling him to lead the team in developing better software for clients.
Before co-founding the company, Paul worked as a Mechanical Engineer for the Queensland Electricity Commission in the early 1990s. He also gained international experience in Japan, the United States, Canada, the UK, and Argentina as part of his ES Cornwall Memorial Scholarship.
After adding in a few entries that we’d inadvertently missed (from a few people very keen for a BBQ) we have updated the sorted results table, and also the analysis.
Some recent changes in the MT PASA forward view of available generation capacities in NSW seem to imply that the declining demand might have taken another victim.
Some analysis of how demand in Victoria has trended over 16 years – at least in part to help competition entrants provide their forecasts of what they think the peak Victorian regional demand will be for summer 2014-15
Some tips about how you can use NEM-Watch v9 to narrow down your entry to Competition #2 this summer (peak QLD Regional Scheduled Dispatch Demand Target for extended summer period)

Geez Paul – thought I would watch the video for fun…totally forgetting I had entered the competition, and low and behold my name was drawn out in the “nerdiest” way possible. Long live the Nerds!
By the way – I fly out to Paris in 10 days for a holiday (seriously) and was about to purchase a camera….thanks Paul, you saved me a head ache or two and quite a few dollars there.
Cheers Craig J.
Haha, you guys are such nerds!
Have a good week-end!
Thanks, Reinhard
