It only started operating under 24 hours ago, but it’s not been a great start to operations at Victoria’s new ‘Big Battery’ as it’s caught fire this afternoon (Friday 30th July 2021).
In the following snapshot from NEMreview v7 we highlight recent operations:
Paul was one of the founders of Global-Roam in February 2000. He is currently the CEO of the company and the principal author of WattClarity. Writing for WattClarity has become a natural extension of his work in understanding the electricity market, enabling him to lead the team in developing better software for clients.
Before co-founding the company, Paul worked as a Mechanical Engineer for the Queensland Electricity Commission in the early 1990s. He also gained international experience in Japan, the United States, Canada, the UK, and Argentina as part of his ES Cornwall Memorial Scholarship.
An animation of 90 minutes this morning where the price gyrated wildly in response to a trip at Yallourn, and numerous subsequent reactions by market participants and the AEMO.
Some activity alerts prompt this short look at how the Victoria Big Battery is recovering from the industrial fire that took it out of action for a number of weeks.
Following our assessment of NEM-wide demand this summer, we turn our attention to Victoria today to see how similar the story is for that region in particular.
