We’re* looking forward to today’s AEC Conference in Sydney

It seems to be somewhat of a ‘conference season’ currently … across the team we’ve attended a few, with Dan Lee yesterday posting his ‘Reflections on supply and demand from a week split between attending and presenting at two very different industry conferences’ (last week in Melbourne).

Today (Thursday 4th June 2026) it’s Sydney’s turn, with the Australian Energy Council organising a one-day conference* with the provocative title ‘Energy2050: Mapping the way Forward’.

* this might be almost a first for them, or at least a ‘first for a long time’ as I can’t recall them being as prolific as organisations like the CEC.

For as long as they maintain the page, there’s information about the conference on their website here … but I thought it might be useful for our future reference to post the Conference Program here:

I had booked to attend myself, but the ‘busyness of business’ meant that I had to cancel my Sydney trip this week … and handed the ticket to our Adam Kent.

  • There will certainly be some internal discussions tomorrow and afterwards on our ‘#conference’ channel on Slack
  • But perhaps we might expand on what Dan noted above in a further wrap of ‘conference season’ in another WattClarity article at some point?
