Overlapping planned outages at Callide C3 and C4

More of a curiosity than anything else – but interesting to note that Callide C3’s come offline today for a medium-length planned outage today, with Callide C4 already offline for a long planned outage.

Above is a view of the ‘Generator Outages’ widget in ez2view at the 15:40 dispatch interval (NEM time) on Friday 8th May 2026:

1)  Callide C4 :

(a)  is offline till 27th June 2026 (still 50 days away)

(b)  was written up on 10th April here, and on 16th April here … meaning it’s already been off for several weeks.

2)  But Callide C3:

(a)  is out until 6th June 2026

(b)  no similar writeup on the CS Energy news site.

Not often there are overlapping planned outages on a generation site – expect it would be busy times on the Callide site.

  1. Not quite. The answer to your observation was in the 10th April write up. It talks to a 17 day combined outage. Not surprising – maybe a bit of scope creep since April. Lots of common plant in these sorts of stations and it talks to switchboard replacements etc which is never quick or easy. Also talks to a control system replacement so common plant also has to be done.
