402 different stories – Semi-Sched units during both frequency spikes (Fri 10th and Sat 11th April 2026)

With a view over our shoulder for the release of more ‘official’ analysis (perhaps coming soon?), we’ve continued to explore the nearly identical frequency glitches experienced over three weeks ago now:

This article today will be one of a number of short articles, targeting particular pieces of data or understanding that we’re accumulating.

In this article we wanted to start with this unbundled listing of 402 discrete stories about the performance of Semi-Scheduled units (115 solar and 86 wind) units across the two similar frequency spikes a day apart …

Event The stories of 115 x Semi-Scheduled

Solar Farms

The stories of 86 x Semi-Scheduled

Wind Farms

Friday 10th April 2026

The Frequency peaked at 50.174Hz (just above the NOFB) at 10:30:41.5

i.e. just on the other side of the 10:30 dispatch interval

Here’s all 115 x Solar Farms listed alphabetically by DUID, with 5 dispatch intervals shown for each, straddling the frequency spike in the middle dispatch interval:

Readers can click on the image to open a larger-resolution view in a separate tab

Note that the MULWASF1 unit is listed (because it was registered when this data was extracted), but there’s no data for it (because it’s not operational).

At this point in time, we’d just like to highlight the aggregate Dispatch Error calculated across all of these units for the 5 dispatch intervals shown:

  • At 10:30 being –100 MW
    • i.e. being an over-performance relative to Target, but one that is much smaller than in the other stories here
    • with the frequency spike
  • Indeed we note that at 10:35 it’s –192MW:
    • i.e. larger over-performance
    • whilst other units are trying to recover the frequency back within the NOFB
  • Two other dispatch intervals are much closer to 0MW
    (i.e. balanced).

  • But the 10:20 dispatch interval is +126MW.

That’s all, for now…

Here’s all 86 x Solar Farms listed listed alphabetically by DUID, with 5 dispatch intervals shown for each, straddling the frequency spike in the middle dispatch interval:

Note that the WAMBOWF2 unit is listed (because it was registered when this data was extracted), but there’s no data for it (because wasn’t operational till 2nd May).

At this point in time, we’d just like to highlight the aggregate Dispatch Error calculated across all of these units for the 5 dispatch intervals shown:

  • At 10:30 being –1,276 MW
    • i.e. being over-performance relative to Target
    • with the frequency spike
  • And note that at 10:35 it’s –370 MW:
    • still sizeable over-performance
    • whilst other units are trying to recover the frequency back within the NOFB
  • But the other three dispatch intervals being much closer to 0MW (i.e. balanced).

Saturday 11th April 2026

The Frequency peaked at 50.176Hz (just above the NOFB) at 14:20:34.3

i.e. just on the other side of the 14:20 dispatch interval

Here’s all 115 x Solar Farms listed listed alphabetically by DUID, with 5 dispatch intervals shown for each, straddling the frequency spike in the middle dispatch interval:

Note that the MULWASF1 unit is listed (because it was registered when this data was extracted), but there’s no data for it (because it’s not operational).

At this point in time, we’d just like to highlight the aggregate Dispatch Error calculated across all of these units for the 5 dispatch intervals shown:

  • At 14:20 being –316 MW
    • i.e. being over-performance relative to Target
    • with the frequency spike
  • But the other four dispatch intervals being much closer to 0MW (i.e. balanced).

Here’s all 86 x Solar Farms listed listed alphabetically by DUID, with 5 dispatch intervals shown for each, straddling the frequency spike in the middle dispatch interval:

At this point in time, we’d just like to highlight the aggregate Dispatch Error calculated across all of these units for the 5 dispatch intervals shown:

  • At 14:20 being –977MW
    • i.e. being over-performance relative to Target
    • with the frequency spike
  • But also at 14:25 being –530MW
    • still a sizeable aggregate over-performance relative to Target
    • whilst other units are trying to recover the frequency back within the NOFB
  • And 14:30 notable at –155MW.
  • But the first two dispatch intervals (only) being much closer to 0MW (i.e. balanced).

That’s all for now…

Now, obviously there are so many individual stories that it’s easy for readers to ‘not see the woods for the trees’, so in a follow-on article we’ll organise these stories into a few high-level chapters:

1)  With:

(a)   one key chapter following on from this big clue that was subsequently noted in this sequence of events.

(b)  but there appearing to be other chapters worth exploring, as well.

2)  So stay tuned…  [ARTICLE LINK TO COME]
