What’s up with Waratah BESS … again?!

Another* of our keen readers (and ez2view users) flagged some more machinations to us with respect to Waratah BESS that occurred yesterday (Monday 23rd March 2026).

*  … not the same one as who flagged Hunter GT to us) has flagged this to us!

What’s visible in the AEMO data?

So we thought we’d post this short note on Tuesday morning 24th March 2026 – starting with a snapshot from the ‘Forecast Convergence’ widget in ez2view, focused on the WTAHB1 DUID (which represents the unit across all three transformers, of which only one has been in service to date):

With this image, and widget:

Where the picture gets a little more interesting is in this snapshot from the ‘Unit Dashboard’ widget for WTAHB1 looking back 2 days:

We can see some things that jump out:

  • I’ve highlighted (by using the chart to navigate to the 08:00 and 08:05 and 08:10 dispatch intervals NEM time Monday 23rd March 2026 and we can clearly see ‘Stored Energy’ rapidly dropping to 0MWh from 794MWh ten minutes beforehand.
  • We can also see not much volume offered to the market since about 05:00 NEM time Monday 23rd March 2026.

What’s going on?

Delving a little further, we look at the ‘Bids & Offers’ widget and see:

  • that there was a plant-related rebid (i.e. Category = P) received by AEMO at 07:04 that has the rebid reason ‘Auxiliary Load – See Log’:
  • but (as yet?) no change in volume offered in PD-ST PASA.

Again, if time permits, we might investigate more … or someone else might like to take it from here to investigate further.

Any news (yet?) from Akaysha Energy?

As at 08:05 NEM time Tuesday morning 24th March 2026  there’s no new News on the Akaysha Energy website:
