More delays in operational date for Hunter GT (i.e. the old Kurri Kurri)

One of our keen readers (and ez2view users) has flagged this to us – so we thought we’d post this short note on Tuesday morning 24th March 2026 with a snapshot from the ‘Forecast Convergence’ widget in ez2view, focused on the HUNTER1 and HUNTER2 DUIDs (which is the station formerly known as Kurri Kurri peaker):

With this image, and widget:

  • Remember that:
  • With this in mind, we can see:
    • Numerous delays in expected full availability dates, from first expectation of July 2025; and
    • With the latest delay (published by AEMO for 18:00 on Thursday 19th March 2026 ) delaying full availability until Monday 25th May 2026.

As time permits we might explore more of the deeper questions – such as:

  • ‘why’?’ … including whether the soaring price of diesel is having some impact?
  • ‘what are the implications (if anything significant) for the NEM?’

… or perhaps someone else might take it from here and answer for us?
