AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

Inter-regional transfer limit variation – Darlington Point – Wagga No.63 330 kV line – NSW region – 23/06/2025

At   1719 hrs 23/06/2025 there was an unplanned outage of Darlington Point – Wagga No.63 330 kV line. The Darlington Point – Balranald No. X5 220 kV line consequently tripped due to a control scheme for the trip of the above line as per design.

The following constraint set(s) invoked at 1725 hrs 23/06/2025

N-DPWG_63_X5

This constraint set(s) contains equations with the following interconnectors on the LHS.
VIC1-NSW1,N-Q-MNSP1,NSW1-QLD1,V-S-MNSP1,V-SA

Refer to the AEMO Network Outage Scheduler for further information.

END OF REPORT

We’ve seen the ‘N-DPWG_63_X5’ constraint set beforehand.

We’ll come back to this later – but, for now, here’s a snapshot of two widgets in ez2view at the 16:10 dispatch interval (NEM time) on Tuesday 24th June 2025 that shows the network outage still underway, but soon to be completed:

2025-06-24-at-16-10-ez2view-ConstraintSet

Note in the list of (many!) constraint equations in this set that there are quite a number that speak of ‘zero inverters’ required to be in service at various Semi-Scheduled plant in the location of the affected network.

More on this (time permitting) in a subsequent article…
