Thursday morning look ahead to forecasts for tomorrow (Friday 3rd Feb) evening in Queensland

Yesterday afternoon, Dan Lee published the article ‘Forecasts pointing to record demand and other risks in QLD for Friday afternoon.. but caveats aplenty’, which has garnered a number of compliments online already.

One in particular drew my attention – where Ron Logan (here on LinkedIn) commented:

‘Great chart, hope you keep updating it as we move closer to Dispatch and when it done, what the actual demand was.’

Given I was having a look anyway this morning, thought it would be useful to share this snapshot from ez2view at the 09:45 dispatch interval with a window containing 3 different ‘Forecast Convergence’ widgets, each focused on different aspects of current forecasts for Friday evening:

  1. I am not sure why the demand is forecast to be so high. Yes it will be hot and humid, but nothing that is even close to a record. It just looks to be on the higher side of average for SE QLD at this time of the year, not very pleasant.
