First evening price spike above $1,000/MWh – at 16:40 on Thursday evening 2nd June 2022

I’ve other things to finish off this evening, so might not have a chance to post any more – so thought it might be best to include this snapshot from NEMwatch at 16:40 highlighting spot prices up above $1,000/MWh in NSW, VIC and SA this afternoon … and not far off that in QLD and TAS.

This is when NEM-wide ‘Market Demand’ is only 27,808MW and available generation is 34,053MW.

Note that the TAS price had previously jumped at 11:55 and 15:20
