AEMO declares ‘Scheduling Error’ in relation to glitches on Friday 10th April and Saturday 11th April 2026

We’ve already written a number of articles with respect to sequential day operational glitches in April 2026:

In particular, note ‘A big clue to one causal factor in both frequency spikes (on Friday 10th April 2026 and Saturday 11th April 2026)’:

… and then ‘One image to summarise the sequence of events in the Frequency Spikes of Fri 10th and Sat 11th April 2026’:

So it was not really a surprise (though it’s nice to know) that last Friday 29th May 2026 the AEMO declared both Scheduling Errors (together anointed number 77), with the following description provided:

‘At 10:30 hrs on 10/4/2026, AEMOs Variable Renewable Energy Forecasting System (VREFS) incorrectly produced a 0 MW forecast for multiple semi-scheduled wind farms in Victoria and South Australia. This resulted in these units generating well above dispatch targets of 0 MW, with no semi‑dispatch caps applied. Non-conformance constraints were invoked for Elaine WF, Golden Plains WF East 1, Golden Plains WF East 2, Ryan corner WF.

A similar event occurred at 14:20 hrs on 11/4/2026, VREFS again incorrectly produced a 0 MW forecast for multiple semi-scheduled units.  This led to generation exceeding dispatch targets without the application of semi-dispatch caps.’

A big thanks to the WattClarity reader who alerted us to this!
