Wednesday morning 24th June 2026 and elevated prices continue in SA

It’s Wednesday morning 24th June 2026 and my pre-configured alerts delivered to ez2view Mobile have been busy – with the arrival of morning prices in South Australia above $500/MWh:

Here’s a snapshot from NEMwatch at the 07:20 dispatch interval (NEM time) to tell a bit more of the story:

Note that:

1)  Wind yield in South Australia is extremely low … but that’s this is just part of the puzzle given that wind yield across the NEM (after recovering somewhat to ~3,000MW levels early yesterday morning) are on the way back down again.

2)  Export limits (from VIC into SA) are reduced again

… this time related to an outage on one Tailem Bend – Tungkillo 275kV line (represented in the ‘S-TBTU’ constraint set)
