A quick initial look at Dispatch Error by Fuel Type, and System Frequency, with the AEMO operations glitch on Tuesday 10th March 2026

We’ve already written about ‘Noteworthy glitch in AEMO operations (both electricity and gas) on Tuesday afternoon/evening 10th March 2026’.

Some questions amongst our extended team prompts this quick look at Dispatch Error by Fuel Type for all 288 dispatch intervals across Tuesday 10th March 2026:

Chart produced via the ‘Trends Engine’ in ez2view … those with licensed access to this software can access their own copy of this query here (and then quickly flip to explore different days).

What stands out is the 14:30 dispatch interval (NEM time):

1)  Which was around the time the AEMO glitches started to manifest

… e.g. delays in delivery of Targets and Semi-Dispatch Cap to client MMS databases, and market data more generally

2)  At which point massive level of collective over-performance from Large Solar Farm

(a)  Which would have, left to its own accord, pumped the frequency well above 50Hz

(b)  So nice to see that some Scheduled units (particularly BESS, Coal and Hydro) combining, presumably via PFR and Regulation FCAS, to keep a lid on frequency.

We’re moving things around on our office network currently, so I can’t grab frequency like I normally do right now – but here’s a quick snapshot looking back 24 hours from ~10:25 (NEM time) on Wednesday 11th March 2026:

Importantly not no massive spike in frequency … thanks to PFR and the Scheduled units that actually deliver it!
