Belatedly noting return to service of YWPS2 (after rebuild/replacement of the LP turbine)

I’ve been away for a bunch of time since late January, and have been otherwise focused on the days in which I’ve been working.

1)  I’ve just noted (belatedly) about RTS for both VP5 and VP6 over this period

2)  Another unit to note is the return to service of Yallourn unit 2 last Monday afternoon 16th February 2026 – as recorded in this ez2view snapshot of a ‘Notification’ widget alert on the day:

Remember that this unit tripped offline back on 26th August 2025:

1)  noting ‘LP turbine issue’ in the rebid reasons at the time.

2)  which we understand was short-hand for some LP turbine blades breaking off the shaft, causing a fair bit of damage (thankfully no injuries), and requiring replacement of the LP turbine.

There have been a number of articles collated here since about this major outage.

Looking a bit further in the AEMO data

For a little more context, here’s a snapshot of the ‘Bids & Offers’ widget in ez2view (as at 15:40 NEM time on Sunday 22nd February 2026):

2026-02-22-at-15-35-ez2view-BidsOffers-YWPS2-rts

We see that the unit’s been running continuously in the week since, bidding consistently down at –$1,000/MWh at the RRN (although no fixed load bids, interestingly).

Communications from EnergyAustralia?

I’ve had a quick look, but can’t (at this point) see any communications from EnergyAustralia:

1)  On their website at the usual places:

(a)  Latest News or Media (nothing there … yet?);

(b)  Or the blog ‘The Spotlight’.

2)  I’ve not seen anything on Social Media either:

(a)  Nothing here on LinkedIn …

(b)  Or elsewhere
