Relatively early in the afternoon (Saturday 15th November 2025) I received simultaneous alerts from the BOM and from AEMO about ‘severe weather’ in relation to Queensland this afternoon:
Whilst the BOM alerts are an almost daily occurrence, given we’re into ‘storm season’ in South East Queensland) … I’d need to check, but can’t recall too many (if any?) alerts from the AEMO relating to ‘Severe Weather’ in Queensland.
Here’s MN130657 at 14:17 (NEM time) on Saturday 15th November 2025:

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE.
AEMO has identified that a non-credible contingency event impacting the power system is more likely to occur and is considered reasonably possible for the Southeast Coast and parts of Central Highlands and Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt Forecast Districts because of the existence of widespread abnormal conditions namely severe weather in the QLD region.
AEMO has therefore reclassified the occurrence of a non-credible contingency event involving multiple plant due to these abnormal conditions as credible.
Need for further measures is being monitored and further measures may be implemented in line with the Power System Security Guidelines (SO_OP_3715).
