It was published 16 days ago (on Thursday 29th May 2025), so this is a belated article to point to the AEMO’s ‘Industry Go-Live Plan’ for market changes that go live from Tuesday 1st July 2025:
There are two initiatives that go live at the same time:
1) There’s the Enhanced Reserve Information (ERI) changes that follow from the ruling that the AEMC made on 21 March 2024.
2) There’s also changes to the ST PASA Processes, following the ruling that the AEMC made in May 2022.
In the following table, we’ve tried to summarise the changes, as we see them …
Date | Milestone |
---|---|
Tuesday 1st July 2025 |
Deployment of ERI and ST PASA Recall Period release to Production (with reference to MMS v5.5). Under the Enhanced Reserve Information (ERI) changes, there are several changes going live from this point: (a) Publication of previous day’s 5-min data for batteries From 1 July 2025, AEMO will publish the previous trading days’ energy availability for batteries, by Dispatchable Unit Identifier (DUID) and for each five-minute dispatch interval (DI), at the end of the trading day (note that within the ERI rules, a ‘battery’ is a scheduled bidirectional unit, excluding pumped hydro). (b) Publication of daily energy limits (total availability) for scheduled generators From 1 July 2025, AEMO will publish the daily energy limits (total availability) of scheduled generators (including pumped hydro), aggregated by region, at the start of the trading day. (c) Publication of aggregated state of charge of batteries in near-real time From 1 July 2025, AEMO will publish energy availability of batteries (i.e. state of charge in MWh), aggregated by region and each Trading Interval (TI) for regions which already have several battery providers registered. That is, all regions except Tasmania. Under the changes to the ST PASA Processes, the AEMO notes: (a) Participants can choose to start providing bidding data for ST PASA Recall Period … noting that AEMO won’t use this data (b) Participants to review all energy bids for trading dates on or after 31 July ST PASA Recall Period rule effective date.

Thursday 31st July 2025 |
From this day: (a) From 04:00 the AEMO will start to use the information being populated from (as early as) the start of the month. (b) ST PASA tables will populate from 31 July 2025 (with respect to changes to the ST PASA Processes). From this day, clients who have upgraded to ez2view v9.12 will have visibility of these new data sets.

Then there is a gap in here… |

1st July 2027 |
Under the Enhanced Reserve Information (ERI) changes, from 1 July 2027, AEMO is to publish energy availability of batteries: (a) Aggregated by region; (b) In real time, for each DI. (c) i.e. state of charge in MWh. Note that AEMO is exploring the publication of this data from mid-2025 for regions which already have several battery providers registered, so this may well have been completed well before this date
