With some wobbles, Bayswater Unit 4 coming back online – Saturday 14th June 2025

i should be doing other things, but noticed these two alerts this morning triggered by the ‘Notifications’ widget in a display copy of ez2view (a new v9.12 release coming soon):

2025-06-14-at-03-10-ez2view-Notifications-BW04-offline

They show that:

1)  At 01:35 (NEM time) on Saturday 14th June 2025, the BW04 unit (on its return to service journey), with first output seen in the AEMO InitialMW data;

2)  But at 03:10 (NEM time) it had come offline again, from 36MW.

Given that this happened before the 04:00 ‘end of market day’ we can use the ‘Bids & Offers’ widget in ez2view to have a look at what was noted in the rebids as the unit came offline:

2025-06-14-at-09-25-ez2view-BidsOffers-BW04

We see that:

1)  There was a rebid received at the AEMO at 03:10 that noted ‘unit trip’ that was first used in interval ending 03:20;

2)  And that there was nothing subsequently in the 40 minutes through until 04:00 … noting that bids from that point are only ‘next day public’.

However, a quick look at the ‘Generator Outages’ widget in ez2view , also at at 09:25 (NEM time) shows that from the first update of the MT PASA DUID Availability data for the unit, the generator currently still anticipates bringing the unit back online in the coming hours:

2025-06-14-at-09-25-ez2view-GeneratorOutages-BW04

An ‘interesting’ coincidence, with yesterday the ABC noting that ‘Bayswater Power Station turns 40…’ in the article by Courtney Yeandle and Amelia Bernasconi.

PS1 … second time lucky?

Later in the morning (at 10:21), that ‘Notifications’ widget alert from ez2view triggered again:

2025-06-14-at-10-21-ez2view-Notifications-BW04-online

As we can see here, the unit is making a second attempt to get back online.
