*Might* be a new all-time record for NEMwide wind production on Monday night 26th May 2025

This NEMwatch dashboard at 08:20 (NEM time) on Monday 26th May 2025 shows a solid block of NEmwide wind production over the past 24 hours:

We see that this is:

1)  Slightly above 7,000MW this morning;

2)  Which is still 1,000MW below the current all-time maximum record (set on Thursday 30th May 2024).

But remember that on Friday we wrote about ‘Forecast for high wind capability across the NEM on Monday 26th May 2025’.  A quick look at the ‘Forecast Convergence’ widget in ez2view this morning shows that the current forecasts for NEM-wide Wind UIGF are as follows:

Quick notes:

1)  Keep in mind that this shows a forecast of NEM-wide wind capability – which can be quite different than actual production levels:

(a)  firstly because of the inherent complexities in forecasting VRE; but also

(b)  moreso because of the possibilities of curtailment through the evening … for network or economic reasons.

2)  But at least it shows that there’s the possibility that we might approach the prior all-time record in the next 12-24 hours.
