Buronga No.5 330kV synchronous condenser has been commissioned in NSW

I’ve just noted about ‘Prices up in the southern half of the NEM – on Tuesday 20th May 2025’.

Now they are not extreme prices in comparison to the ‘up, up and away MPC’ but I thought it was worth noting for a couple reasons – including:

Reason 1)  Because it’s relatively rare these days, including because of operations of VIC1-NSW1 in relation to intra-regional congestion in VIC and NSW;

Reason 2)  But also because of the Market Notice shown in that NEMwatch snapshot, which was also flagged in this ez2view alert to me this evening:
