Gremlins in the EMMS upgrade to Data Model v5.5, making ‘the Resurrection of Old Coal’ appear on the cards

The AEMO is in the process of rolling out EMMS Data Model v5.5 and we noticed something strange yesterday in the ‘Generator Outages’ widget in ez2view.  Here’s a snapshot from this morning (Wednesday 30th April 2025):

We put a note on our Status Page for our clients yesterday, and are following up with the AEMO to understand the specifics (Case CS0022196 – related to the MMS table DUDETAIL) but thought it was worth communicating more broadly via this article on WattClarity.

Rest assured it’s not like a hypothetical Episode X movie ‘the Resurrection of the Sith’ (complete with Ian McDiarmid getting to go-around again, again) …

1)   These old coal units are dead and buried  … the apparent reappearance is not real (despite the hopes of some on the extreme right of the Emotion-o-meter);

2)  But this glitch could manifest in strange ways – both in our software, but also in client’s own queries on their own EMMS:

(a)  In our ez2view some manifestations might be obvious, like the above, but some (e.g. in aggregations) might be more subtle (and insidious Darth Sidious?!)

(b)  And the same with queries you might have created yourself on your own EMMS (whether supplied by us at Global-Roam Pty Ltd or not).
