Morning prices persist in the South as chill remains

We’ve been watching the morning spike in prices persist a little longer than usual today as a result of the cold weather persisting later into the morning.

As shown in this snapshot of 10:05 today from NEM-Watch, demand in Victoria at 10:05 remains in the green zone (and demand in Tasmania relatively high, on a chilly morning):

Also, note in the snapshot above that the wind died away in Victoria Saturday morning and has not yet returned.  This, coupled with reduced output from brown coal plant, has handed more share of the market to hydro and gas.

Further north, we see Queensland prices again in the twenties, and NSW prices not that much higher.
