PASA Avail

The ‘PASA Avail’ series was added to an incremental upgrade to ez2view v9.4 during Q2 2022 in order to provide clearer visibility of some of the factors contributing to the extremes in price outcomes seen in Q2 2022.

Within ez2view this data series is accessible:

1)  In the ‘Bids & Offers’ widget … so also in related widgets showing bid stack over time, such as:

2)  The new ‘Bids Explorer’ widget; and

3)  The ‘Unit Dashboard’ widget.

(A)  What does the data series mean?

In the AEMO’s MMS Data Model Report, the data (in various tables) is described as:

‘The physical plant capability including any capability potentially available within 24 hours’

What this means is slightly different for different types of units:

(A1)  What does it mean – for Scheduled DUIDs?

The ‘PASA Availability’ figure can be quite useful in seeing the fuller picture for fully Scheduled units.

We’ll update this page shortly to provide more detail about what this data set means.

(A2)  What does it mean – for Semi-Scheduled DUIDs?

The Semi-Scheduled units operate differently

i.e. with the ‘MaxAvail’ in the bid files overwritten by the Availability figure coming from AEMO’s ASEFS/AWEFS, or the participant self-forecast.

Because of this, the ‘PASA Availability’ figure submitted with the bid will generally be less useful than they will be for fully Scheduled units.

We’ll update this page shortly to provide more detail about what this data set means.

(A3)  What does it mean – for Negawatt DUIDs?

We’ll update this page shortly to provide more detail about what this data set means.
