Vales Point 6 returned to service Friday afternoon/evening 31st October 2025 after tube leak outage

Whilst waiting for my flight back to Brisbane after the All Energy 2025 week in Melbourne, I thought it might answer some questions we’ve fielded (including from Matt here) with respect to the unplanned outage at Vales Point 6 which:

Here’s a snapshot of the ‘Bids & Offers’ widget in ez2view at Saturday 1st November 2025 to span those days, filtered down to look at the VP6 unit:

Amongst other things in the rebid reasons we can see:

  • A reference to the tube leak (probably a boiler tube), which will be the reason for the outage;
  • But also some auxiliary plant failure.  Not sure of the specifics there (i.e. which auxiliary plant)?
  • But also the out-of-service timings shifted somewhat because of possible direction (presumably for System Strength in NSW).  We’ll look more at that later.

That’s all for now…
