On Wednesday 27th August we wrote about the ‘Notable forced outage at Yallourn Unit 2 … due to ‘LP turbine issue’’ which occurred on Tuesday 26th August 2025.
This outage was one of many topics of conversation in a phone call this afternoon – which prompted a new look at the ‘Forecast Convergence’ widget in ez2view, from which we take the following snapshot at 14:10 (NEM time) on Thursday 28th August 2025:
Key points from this image:
1) This revised expectation for return to service date was updated in the MT PASA DUID Availability data set published by AEMO for yesterday (Wednesday 27th August 2025 at 12:00)
2) The revised return to service date is now Thursday 25th September 2025
… but keep in mind that this is early days, and that (my sense is that) we won’t really know until EnergyAustralia has completed the (presumed) cover lift to inspect the damage.
3) We see that (as anticipated in the earlier article) the previously planned outage (presumably including the work scope within it) has been merged into this new forced outage.
That’s all, for now
