Given that they said in the email ‘Feel free to share it more widely with your colleagues and networks’, I thought it would be useful to share them all here today.
1) That job done, tick!
2) Still to prepare that other information that I promised to deliver to Phil Hirschhorn, though. Stay tuned…
Readers should keep in mind that Tim and the Team were very keen to (repeatedly) stress that:
These slides only reflected initial thinking at this time,
Subject to change etc…
We’ll also review with interest the draft report when it’s released (expected in July or August 2025).
Paul was one of the founders of Global-Roam in February 2000. He is currently the CEO of the company and the principal author of WattClarity. Writing for WattClarity has become a natural extension of his work in understanding the electricity market, enabling him to lead the team in developing better software for clients.
Before co-founding the company, Paul worked as a Mechanical Engineer for the Queensland Electricity Commission in the early 1990s. He also gained international experience in Japan, the United States, Canada, the UK, and Argentina as part of his ES Cornwall Memorial Scholarship.
Continuing to walk through the draft Report of the Nelson Review, we see that the authors ‘identified that most historic policy interventions have been incomplete’ (i.e. speak to the Schism).
As noted in yesterday evening’s article (about one big ‘wrinkle’), I was off to the Brisbane session of the Nelson Review today. Here’s two slides that jumped out.
Dan shares a short reflection on three high-level themes that resonated throughout the NEMDEV conference in Brisbane this week. From winter reliability to rising costs and market reform, the discussions raised important questions about how the NEM will — and should — evolve in the years ahead.
In part because I’m speaking at the NEMDev conference (Wed 8th Oct 2025 in Brisbane) we’re taking a pass through the draft Report of the Nelson Review. Some (more realistic than earlier Reviews) statements about the extent of Demand Response in the NEM jumped out.
1 Commenton "Slides circulated, from the Nelson Review briefings during May 2025"
It is disappointing to see this review referring to the ISP’s Step Change scenario as if it is an expected outcome.
