Some good news I saw this morning was that Broken Hill might be reconnected to the wider grid (albeit on the temporary towers for now) as early as this Saturday 2nd November 2024 – via this LinkedIn update from Penny Sharpe, Energy Minister:
Paul was one of the founders of Global-Roam in February 2000. He is currently the CEO of the company and the principal author of WattClarity. Writing for WattClarity has become a natural extension of his work in understanding the electricity market, enabling him to lead the team in developing better software for clients.
Before co-founding the company, Paul worked as a Mechanical Engineer for the Queensland Electricity Commission in the early 1990s. He also gained international experience in Japan, the United States, Canada, the UK, and Argentina as part of his ES Cornwall Memorial Scholarship.
A reader has helped point out that temporary towers brought the Moorabool Sydenham No1 500 kV line back into service on Sun 25th Feb 2024 (with No2 line still out).
Anthony Cornelius of WeatherWatch shares insights and graphical displays that demonstrate the extent of the supercell storm that toppled seven transmission towers in Broken Hill last week.
