About the delay in expected return to service of Vales Point 5

This morning we wrote ‘How many coal units in NSW expected to be available on Thursday evening 18th December 2025?’, in a look ahead to the volatility (which is underway) in the NSW region on Thursday 18th December 2025.

 

Whilst waiting for the volatility to unfold, I thought it was worth capturing two snapshots from the ‘Forecast Convergence’ widget in ez2view, focused on the Vales Point 5 unit as follows:

Firstly, with a view focused on the MT PASA DUID Availability data, we see the that it was last Monday 8th December 2025 that saw the return to service data pushed back the first time … but subsequently a couple of times since, as well.

Then flipping to the more granular ST PASA data, we see the expected return to service is now sitting at next Tuesday evening 23rd December 2025:
