A brief article to note the continued impact of the Tailem Bend to Tungkillo line outage on FCAS prices.
Last week on Thursday Dan reported how the Tailem Bend to Tungkillo line outage was requiring local levels of FCAS to be procured in SA.
Volatility within the contingency FCAS market in SA today, Thursday 24th July 2025
In that article Dan had noted the the constraint set managing the outage, S-TBTU, continues until August the 10th (with a brief intermission on the night of the 3rd) therefore the drivers of FCAS volatility will likely persist until then too.
We recall from the earlier article that the set was to be invoked during the daytime only over the weekend, but going forward it spans longer timeframes.
Prices over the weekend (26th and 27th) reached the market price cap, suggesting there is potential for the volatility to continue.
