Anytime/Anywhere Energy

We coined the term ‘Anytime/Anywhere Energy’  to describe the core characteristics of the type of intermittent renewable supply that was seeing considerable growth at the time – solar and wind. Growth which was forecast to continue and accelerate for many years to come. We also sometimes refer to this type of energy as ‘Supply Service #1’.

We use the term in conjunction with the separate term ‘Keeping The Lights On’ Services. These two types of energy/services are being seen as increasingly distinct (or sometimes completely overlooked or neglected). We discussed this emerging ‘schism’ in Theme 5 within Part 2 of our GRC2018:
