AER announces that it has instituted proceedings against Transgrid following 2024 Broken Hill outages

Back at the time, we collated a number of articles about the severe storms blew over transmission towers (on the ‘X2 line’)  feeding power into western NSW on 16th October 2024 (which, amongst other things, disrupted power supplies to (and local generation in) areas like Broken Hill for a number of weeks).

We thought it would be of interest to readers to note that today (Wednesday 17th December 2025, 14 months later) the AER announced here that it had ‘… instituted proceedings against Transgrid following 2024 Broken Hill outages’.

For those who wish to follow, it looks like the this has been categorised under Docket Number NSD2360/2025 in the NSW Registry of the Federal Court of Australia:
