Some good news I saw this morning was that Broken Hill might be reconnected to the wider grid (albeit on the temporary towers for now) as early as this Saturday 2nd November 2024 – via this LinkedIn update from Penny Sharpe, Energy Minister:
Paul was one of the founders of Global-Roam in February 2000. He is currently the CEO of the company and the principal author of WattClarity. Writing for WattClarity has become a natural extension of his work in understanding the electricity market, enabling him to lead the team in developing better software for clients.
Before co-founding the company, Paul worked as a Mechanical Engineer for the Queensland Electricity Commission in the early 1990s. He also gained international experience in Japan, the United States, Canada, the UK, and Argentina as part of his ES Cornwall Memorial Scholarship.
In light of another transmission tower collapse caused by convective wind gusts, we’ve invited wind loading expert Dr John Holmes to explain this phenomena.
On Thursday evening 17th October 2024, a significant weather event in South Australia has damaged the high-voltage network in SA Far North (and power supply has been impacted).
Via an update on LinkedIn from NSW Energy Minister, we’ve become aware of this update on the NSW Government website ‘Update on NSW Government response to power outage in Far West NSW’.
