Mainland Frequency Wednesday 5th August 2026, how low and when

Following Paul’s capture of the Significant drop in Mainland Frequency (Wed 5th Aug 2026) around the time of what appeared to be “just” a Data Glitch we inspect the series of mainland frequency further.

The chart is frequency measured every 0.1 seconds, in Brisbane, by Global-Roam.

So, we can see the decline started near the start of the 16:25 interval (at 16:20).  The decline was steady over the 16:25 interval.

At 16:20 we measured 49.964 Hz. At 16:25 we measured 49.835 Hz. A decline of -0.129 Hz over the 5-minute interval.

The nadir we measured was shortly after 16:25: 49.825 Hz, at 16:25:33.

Frequency recovered in the 16:30 interval, by the end of that it had reached 49.954 Hz. And in the 16:35 and 16:40 intervals it rose further towards 50 Hz and the PFR deadband range (+/- 0.015 Hz).
