In large part because we’ll probably refer back to it later, here’s a 60-day look back (as at 11:05 NEM time on Tuesday 4th August 2026) of the bidding and operations at the TEMPB1 unit – utilising the ‘Bids & Offers’ widget in ez2view:
I’m still striving to learn more about the machinations of the Administration process:
1) it seems clear that the battery has not been able to bid to operate (charge or discharge)since Friday afternoon 3rd July 2026 (i.e. when the Administrators were called in)
… my vague understanding is that this is somehow related to the lapsing/suspension of the operational/tolling rights that Zen Energy retained over the battery, even after its ownership stake in the battery was sold down (over two tranches, and in 2025?) earlier.
2) though since that time, we see some small glimmers of charge and discharge in the SCADA date published by AEMO in the EMMS (i.e. ‘FinalMW’) in two bursts highlighted
…. I wonder what that represents (including whether just some data glitch?)
In the widget view above, I’ve particularly highlighted the three recent periods of volatility in South Australia that we’ve written about:
1) The period of the 4-day wind lull in late June 2026
(a) Covered in a number of articles collated here on WattClarity;
(b) And noting that Templers BESS (TEMPB1) was one of the batteries highlighted in this ‘The next step down the rabbit hole – an introduction to unit-level battery operation on Sunday 21st and Monday 22nd June 2026 in South Australia’.
i. Note there how it appeared to miss the opportunity to dispatch much into the two spikes.
ii. Which, I’d wondered earlier here, might have been another ‘nail in the coffin’.
2) The volatility in Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia on Wednesday evening 8th July 2026
(a) In this case note the broader comments about batteries in the ‘four factors contributing to volatility in VIC+SA+TAS on Wednesday evening 8th July 2026’.
(b) Again where we see Templers did not operate
3) Last week’s ~48-hour period of elevated prices in South Australia in conjunction with another wind lull:
(a) Covering Wednesday afternoon 29th July 2026, Thursday 30th July 2026 and Friday 31st July 2026)
(b) Where we see Templers did not operate (so absent in ‘first look at battery operation in South Australia through recent elevated pricing (29th to 31st July 2026)’
And utilising the ‘Trends Engine’ in ez2view, here’s a longer term view of key operational data aggregated to daily stats:

Over this longer time range, the lengthy outage through August and September 2025 stands out as something of interest, as well – but no time to delve further at this point.
