Callide C3 starts RTS on Monday afternoon 19th January 2026

After being offline following the coincident trip of both Callide C units last Thursday the 15th of January, Unit C3 at the Callide Power Station has begun its return to service this afternoon from around 1:20pm (NEM time).

The simultaneous outage of C3 and C4 was precipitated by a control system fault, which saw both units trip from around 800MW to zero and prompted a precautionary evacuation of personnel while investigations and remedial checks were initiated. The unit’s PASA availability data indicates that the unit is scheduled to reach close to full availability (424MW of its 466MW capacity), at 17:30 this afternoon (NEM time).

C3’s return follows the slight delays in return-to-service expectations through the weekend, as the unit’s STPASA data was updated to reflect incremental changes driven by ongoing assessments of the fault and associated repairs.

In contrast, Callide C4 remains offline, with its return slated for tomorrow morning as per the latest projections.
