Price blip in QLD and NSW on Tuesday 8th April 2025

Yesterday we briefly noted ‘Evening volatility in NSW and QLD on Monday 7th April 2025’

… in that case prices at-or-above $1,000/MWh in QLD and NSW:
(a)  Began with first spikes in the 17:00 dispatch interval NEM time; and
(b)  Persisted with last spikes at-or-above $1,000/MWh in the 18:35 dispatch interval NEM time

So spanning 100 minutes, all up (but not contiguous).

This evening the lower wind conditions (which were a factor coincident with sunset yesterday) occurred again, leading to a price blip captured in NEMwatch at the 17:30 dispatch interval NEM time:

2025-04-08-at-17-30-NEMwatch

At this point the aggregate wind yield had ramped back to ~1,000MW NEMwide, and further ramped up to the point of publication (18:20), meaning no further escalation in prices … at least to this point.

Not much to it, really, this article’s partly just as a record
