Throughout today we have been keeping a close eye on the NSW region, where a tight supply-demand balance is expected this evening. This week we have already written several articles related to this:
- On Tuesday, I wrote a brief post noting a market notice regarding the AEMO requesting generator recall information in NSW and QLD.
- Yesterday, Paul provided further commentary about expectations for Thursday evening, including LOR forecasts and generator outages in the region.
- Earlier today, Paul posted an update about a moderating demand forecast.
To add to our coverage, I wanted to share a screenshot from our Forecast Convergence widget which shows the P30 forecasts for Semi-Scheduled Wind UIGF in NSW. We can see that wind availability in the region is currently expected to be 1,039MW at 18:00 (NEM time) – the period coinciding with a current forecast LOR2 – with wind availability expected trough later in the evening.

Zooming out, and for completeness, the image below shows a similar view but aggregated for all NEM regions.
