Lunchtime volatility in NSW on Friday 19th December 2025

A quick snapshot from NEMwatch at 12:30 (NEM time) on Friday 19th December 2025, to mark an earlier-than-forecast arrival of prices above $1,000/MWh:

Note the steep escalation in ‘Market Demand in NSW since the 11:30 dispatch interval.

Also worth noting that  the interconnectors are mostly behaving themselves at this dispatch interval and not flowing counter-priced:

  • with the exception of flow running from Victoria into SA over both VIC1-SA1 and Murraylink
  • and Directlink, of course.
